EMMANUELLE MOUREAUX is a French architect and designer based in Tokyo. Inspired by Japanese traditional sliding screens, Moreaux has created the concept of ‘Shikiri’ which literally means dividing and creating space with colors. She uses colors as three-dimensional elements, like layers, in order to create spaces. She designs a wide range of projects, architecture, interior, furniture, product, exhibition, by using her unique technique of color scheming and handling colors as space makers. Moreaux is Associate Professor at the Tohoku University of Art & Design; recent awards include the International Architecture Award and Architizer A+ Award for the Sugamo Shinkin Bank; other recent projects include ‘See Beyond Colors’ for the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale and ‘100 Colors Tokyo’ for the Shinjuku Creators Festa 2013.
Emmanuelle Moureaux’s installation ‘100 colors’ was on exhibition in the College of Fine Arts Great Hall as part of the festival.
